La Paz

sunny 74 °F

Dave and I got up at 4:30 to catch the earliest flight to La Paz so our bodies could adjust to the altitude before our mountain bike ride on the Most Dangerous Road tomorrow. Landing in La Paz at 8, we checked into our hotel and started out walking around the city in search of a taxi to Copacabana for when Katie and the kids arrive. We find that going to the cemetery is the best way to cut our cost in half of a private taxi.

We sign up for our bike ride tomorrow, hit Dumbo for the “mud” coffee and return to the room for a brief rest. We head to the roof of our hotel for some time-lapse photography with the city and the mountains as the subjects. Dinner is 2 blocks away at Angelo’s, which is located inside an ancient courtyard. You climb a flight of stairs and walk along a covered balcony. To get into the restaurant you have to duck you head as you enter two dimly lit rooms.
