Snake Hunt

sunny 87 °F

Jerome, who loves reptiles, convinces Jake that we need to go on a hike through the grass at night looking for snakes and tarantulas. Perfect. I love spiders and snakes. I don’t really have to worry as there aren’t that many snakes or tarantulas around here…Just enough for Roxanne to have been bitten by a rattlesnake in their yard 2 months ago and Jerome to keep endless terrariums full of critters he has found all over the yard.

A few months ago he found a green tree snake that is “semi” poisionous. Not sure how that works? Anyway, the snake got away and he was devastated. Rocky and Joske found a green tree snake on Sunday and Jerome was extatic. He was even more excited to learn that it was the same snake he lost as it had the same scar.

So, back to our snake hunt. The two animals I HATE in life are snakes and sharks. I think it would even be safe to say I have an unhealthy fear of both. I find it ironic that my 3 brothers all share the same fear.

I am doing all I can to get out of having to go on this hunt. I found my ticket when we ran out of knee high boots and copped the perfect plea to stay on the road while they trolled the fertile grounds for reptiles of all kinds. Aside from a frog Jerome captured to feed to his snake, we didn’t find anything. The kids had fun, I stayed in the middle of the road, Jerome caught a frog and the wind kept the mosquitos away. A perfect evening in Bolivia.
